International Congress on Wax Modelling
Call for papers: aperte le registrazioni
L'Università di Padova nel 2019 ospiterà il secondo International Congress on Wax Modelling (Congresso Internazionale sulla modellazione della cera) che accoglierà esperti, professionisti e artisti dei campi di Anatomia, Storia dell'arte, Scultura, Restauro, Conservazione e Arte Contemporanea.
Il congresso si terrà dal 7 al 9 giugno 2019 e si svolgerà presso Palazzo Bo e presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Cardio-Toraco-Vascolari e Sanità pubblica e si terrà in lingua inglese.
Circa 40 anni dopo i pionieristici Congressi di Ceroplastica (Firenze, 1975 e Londra, 1978), il primo International Congress on Wax Modelling si è tenuto a settembre 2017, al Gordon Museum of Pathology del King's College London (Londra), in collaborazione con The Worshipful Company of Wax Chandlers e il museo Madame Tussauds.
Di origini antichissime, l'arte della ceroplastica, o della modellazione della cera, è stata riscoperta tra il XIII e XIV secolo in Italia con le riproduzioni in cera di arte sacra ed ex voto e successivamente sempre in Italia furono sviluppati durante il XVIII secolo i primi modelli anatomici e le prime collezioni scientifiche in cera.
Padova è il luogo ideale per esplorare diversi aspetti di questa arte (religiosa, laica, scientifica). Nel 2019, con l'intervento di molti esperti internazionali nel settore, continueremo a esplorare le potenzialità multidisciplinari di questa affascinante tecnica tra Arte e Scienza.

The University of Padua in 2019 will host the second International Congress on Wax Modelling which is going to welcome experts, professionals and artists from the fields of Anatomy, Art History, Sculpture, Restoration, Conservation and Contemporary Art.
The congress will be held from 7 to 9 June 2019 in Bo Palace and at the Department of Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular Sciences and Public Health.
After the pioneering Ceroplastics Congresses (Florence, 1975 and London, 1978) the first in 40 years was held in September 2017, at the Gordon Museum of Pathology, King’s College in collaboration with The Worshipful Company of Wax Chandlers and Madame Tussauds.
Of ancient origins, the art of ceroplastics or wax modelling was re-discovered in the 13th – 14th century in Italy with the cult of votive artefacts and it is again in Italy that the first anatomical models and scientific collections were developed during the 18th century.
Padua is the perfect venue to explore different aspects of this art (religious, secular, scientific). In 2019, with the help of many international experts in the field, we will continue to explore the multidisciplinary potentials of this fascinating technique in Art and Science.
