THE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY IN PADOVA
A virtual exhibition that takes the visitor on a journey back into the heart of eighteenth-century Padova at the height of the eighteenth century. Focusing on a selection of items from the Vallisneri and Poleni collections, it winds its way through art, archaeology, natural history and physics.
ART AND ANTIQUES IN SIXTEENTH-CENTURY PADOVA. THE “MANTOVA BENAVIDES” COLLECTION
Marco Mantova Benavides began accumulating his great collection in the first half of the 16th century, if not earlier. This virtual tour offers a unique picture of the period’s antiquarian predilections, but it is also a precious portrait of the relationship between the collector-patron and the artists he employed.

This room in the Museum of Geology and Palaeontology takes its name from the dozens of magnificent palm fossils that adorn the walls. The fossils, which were uncovered in famous deposits within the Veneto region itself, have been dated to between 30 and 50 million years ago.
MUSEUM OF GEOLOGY AND PALAEONTOLOGY
Alongside its collection of rock samples, the museum of Geology and Palaeontology houses tens of thousands of plant, invertebrate and vertebrate fossils, most of which come from deposits in the Triveneto area. They offer a priceless record of life as it was in the Earth’s most distant past, and an account of how biodiversity can be transformed over time.
IN SEARCH OF THE MUSEUM OF THE HISTORY OF PHYSICS
The collection of the Museum of the History of Physics offers both a precious record of how the study of physics in Padova has developed years from the eighteenth century onwards, and a fascinating overview of the development of scientific thought and technology in general.
THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE ENRICO BERNARDI ARCHIVE
The “Enrico Bernardi” Museum of Machines at the University of Padova houses an extensive collection of images, letters, hand-written specimens, extracts, pamphlets and posters produced by, or about, the eponymous engineer.
SCIENTIFIC WALLCHARTS AT THE BOTANICAL MUSEUM
The collection comprises 98 educational charts on botanical subjects that were produced towards the end of the nineteenth century and the start of the twentieth.
THEATRE OF THE WORLD: ATLASES IN THE GEOGRAPHY LIBRARY'S COLLECTIONS
The collection retrace the evolution of geographic atlas in the Western culture, from the late Renaissance to the first half of 20th century.

Phaidra is the University Library Centre’s platform for the management and long-term storage of a range of digital properties including images, documents, e-books, videos and teaching resources.
MOVIO - Mostre Virtuali Online (i.e. “Virtual Online Exhibitions”)
MOVIO is a free, open-source software kit for creating online collections and themed virtual exhibitions. It was developed as part of a project coordinated by the ICCU (Central Institute for the Unified Catalogue), which was itself part of the Beni Culturali Invisibili: Una Risorsa Italiana Da Valorizzare initiative (“Invisible cultural assets, an Italian resource waiting to be harnessed”) funded by the Fondazione Telecom Italia.
Itinerari virtuali
Itinerari Virtuali (literally “virtual itineraries”) is a tool for creating virtual exhibitions. It was developed by the University Museums Centre as part of the project Arte Scienza Tecnologia - La diffusione della cultura tecnologica e scientifica in una rete integrata tra università e territorio (“Art, Science, Technology – an integrated network connecting universities and local communities for the promotion of science and technology awareness”), which was financed for the period 2012-2015 under agreements stipulated pursuant to Law 6/2000.
